Teachers' Biography

With Bárbara and Petra!

Bárbara de Souza is a Brazilian violist and music teacher based in Amsterdam. She obtained her bachelor’s in viola performance at Conservatorium van Amsterdam and her master’s in music education at The Royal Conservatoire The Hague. Besides working as a freelancer musician, Bárbara is passionate about teaching kids, works as a violin and viola teacher in several projects in Noord-Holland, and has her private teaching studio in Amsterdam.

Born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia, Petra Ruth Alexandry moved to the Netherlands when she was 18, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in classical piano performance at Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2016 and two master’s degrees in classical piano performance and music education at The Royal Conservatoire of The Hague in 2019 and 2022 respectively. Her love for teaching children brought her to seminars and workshops on various teaching methods (e.g. Kodaly, Dalcroze, and Piano Safari, among others), further developing her teaching skills. She was involved in group teaching as an accompanist and a substitute teacher at Rudolf Steiner College and PI: Muziek voor kleuters at The Royal Conservatoire of The Hague. Petra owns her private teaching practice, Petrassissimo Music Studio, since 2016.
